MMIC, COHV and CNSS Safety and Image Enhancement Fund

The MMIC, COHV and CNSS Give Back to the Riding Community
Toronto, Ontario
– The Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV), owners of seven Motorcycle & ATV shows across Canada and Canadian National Sportsman Show (CNSS), who manage the MMIC and COHV shows in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver are pleased to announce that a total of $57,000.00 in funding from the Safety and Image Enhancement Fund (SIEF) will assist in funding seven projects in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

Executive Committee recognize MMIC and COHV President, Bob Ramsay 25 years of service
Toronto, ON -As a kick off to the December 11-13, 2009, Toronto Motorcycle show, the Motorcycle and Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) Executive Committee held its year-end meeting at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where they took the opportunity to recognize  MMIC & COHV President, Bob Ramsay, for his 25 years of service.

Traffic Injury Research Foundation Survey Results
Toronto, ON -Canadian motorcyclists are neither ‘more’ nor ‘less’ risky on the roads than other drivers according to a public opinion poll conducted in September 2008 by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF). Riding a motorcycle was perceived as being the least risky of all road behaviours that were surveyed.

COHV ATV Rider Safety
Toronto, ON - The safety of our customers and every rider in Canada is of paramount importance to the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) and its member companies. The number of Canadians riding ATVs has tripled in the past ten years. ATV rider safety is improving with around 3.5 million Canadians riding their ATVs without incident each year.

Ottawa, ON – Work is set to begin across Canada on hundreds of outdoor rails, which will help to create jobs and enhance the country’s national trail system. The Honourable Gary Lunn, Minister of State (Sport), and Terry Norman, National Coordinator, National Trails Coalition (NTC) today announced that over 500 trail projects will benefit from the Government’s $25 million investment in recreational trails, as part of the Government’s Economic Action Plan.

Toronto Motorcycle Show Continues To Add More Manufacturers

Canadian ATV Instructors Implement International Guidelines
Toronto, Ontario, August 12– The Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) is pleased to announce that the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA) has granted the COHV, in partnership with the All-Terrain Quad Council of Canada (AQCC), a royalty-free license to use and reproduce its ATV-ASI all-terrain vehicle training curriculum to train ATV instructors in Canada.

2008 COHV Funding Promotes Responsible Off-Highway Riding
Toronto, Ontario, March 11 - The Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) issued more than $800,000 in sustaining grant funding for 2008 to assist national and provincial rider federations with on going staffing and service support to their members and just over $500,000 in the first round of project funding grants to help Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) federations build on projects that support the OHV guiding principles regarding rider safety, training, education and environmental initiatives.
