What do I need to do when I prepare to ride?
It is important to always inspect your ATV each time before riding. The following checklist will
help.
- Tires – check condition and pressure
- Fuel and oil tanks – fill both tanks to their proper levels
- All brakes – check operation, adjustment and fluid level (includes auxiliary brake)
- Throttle – check for smooth operation opening and closing
- Headlight/Taillight/ Brake light check operation of all indicator lights and switches
- Engine stop switch – check for proper function
- Wheels – check they are not loose; check that wheel nuts and axle nuts are tight
- Drive chain – check condition and slack; refer to drive chain adjustment in your manual
- Air cleaner element – check for dirt; clean or replace if necessary
- Steering – check for smooth operation noting any unusual looseness in any area
- Loose parts – visually inspect vehicle for any damage or loose nuts/bolts or fasteners
- Helmet, goggles and clothing – do not ride without proper protective gear
- Engine coolant (Liquid cooled models only) – check for proper levels
